Ten candidates have nominated for this year's Hindmarsh Shire Council election - two in West Ward, and four in each of North Ward and East Wards. Each Ward is represented by two Councillors.

As the number of candidates did not exceed the number of Councillors required in West Ward, it is an uncontested election.

A Ballot Draw was conducted Tuesday afternoon for the other two wards, with the ballot paper order as below.

East Ward - 2 vacancies
Cliff Unger (former Councillor)
Debra Nelson (current Councillor, East Ward)
Mary Clarke
Tony Schneider (current Councillor, East Ward)

North Ward - 2 vacancies
Ron Lowe (current Councillor, North Ward)
Ron Ismay (current Councillor, North Ward)
Wendy Robins (current Councillor, West Ward)
Elizabeth Chivell (former Councillor)

West Ward - 2 vacancies
Rob Gersch (current Councillor, West Ward)
David Colbert

Returning officer Lynne Sargent said that voters can expect their voting packs to arrive in the mail mid-October.

"Ballot packs will be posted out from Melbourne in two weeks' time, on the 4th, 5th and 6th October, so voters can expect to begin receiving their ballot packs in the mail after those dates.

"All completed ballot packs will need to be posted back by 6pm Friday 21st October in order for the vote to be admitted to the count."
