Voters in the Hindmarsh Shire Council elections are reminded they have until 6.00 pm this Friday to return their completed ballot paper and avoid a fine.

Ballots that are not posted or hand-delivered to the election office by this time cannot be counted.

Completed ballot material must be posted by 6.00 pm this Friday. Alternatively, it can be hand-delivered to the election office during business hours at 8 Roy Street, Jeparit. Extended hours apply from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm on Thursday 20 October and 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on Friday 21 October.

Voters who still haven't received their ballot pack should call the election office immediately on 1300 586 631 to arrange a replacement.

Voting is compulsory for voters who were on the State roll for this election at 4.00 pm Friday 26 August 2016—State-enrolled voters who don't vote may be fined. Voters aged 70 or over and council-enrolled voters are encouraged to vote but will not be fined if they don't.

Voters enrolled in West Ward are not required to vote because this ward is uncontested. An uncontested election leaflet was mailed to affected voters.
