Brim is on top of Dimboola and District Tennis Association's ladder after claiming a strong victory over Yaapeet at Brim on Saturday.

In windy conditions, Brim claimed maximum points on the day in a strong performance that saw it win 13 of 18 sets played for the day.

Playing with the maximum six men and six ladies, Brim started proceedings in strong form with a powerful performance in the mixed doubles, claiming five of the six sets on offer and lead 51 games to 29.

The mens section was a titanic battle that finished with a two game difference in Brim's favour, both sides claiming three sets.

A 9-3 win to Joel Boehm and Jon Fuller in the last of the mens sets tied the sides on sets but Brim was able to claim the point finishing with 45 games to 43.

Brim's ladies stole the show on the day when it dominated the section, winning five of the six sets on offer to claim the point 49 games to 17 with Kylie O'Connor, Simone Lindsay and Merrily Keam having a good day to win all sets on the day.

Jeparit produced a strong performance to claim its first victory of the season when it defeated Warrack Maroon four points to one.

Jeparit finished 39 games in front, winning nine sets to five as the sides contested five men and four ladies which meant a singles clash to open proceedings.

Warrack Maroon's Todd Krahe claimed a tight 9-7 victory over Rory O'Halloran which helped his side claim the opening point of the day when Maroon claimed three of the five sets on offer, but trailed by nine games after Jeparit finished the section 38 games to 29.

The remainder of the day belonged to Jeparit who dominated the ladies section, winning all four sets after Sue Bell and Ben Schultz opened proceedings to claim a tie-breaker over Jan Greenwood and Jess Kelly.

Jeparit's 36 games to 18 win in the ladies was followed by a tight contest in the mens section when Jeparit claimed the point three sets, 40 games to two sets, 28 games.

Ben Inkster, Raylene Werner and Bec Schultz were in good form throughout the day to win all sets played.

The day's competition produced two cliffhangers with a one game difference being played at Warracknabeal's Anzac Park and a three-game thriller taking place at Dimboola's Health and Fitness Centre courts.

A final set win to Warrack Gold's Wendy Hewitt and Wendy Lehmann gave the home side a thrilling one game victory over Rainbow, eight sets to seven.

Playing five and five, nothing separated the teams for the entire day with the mixed doubles section only being decided in the last set when Gold's Lynley Clyne and Dane Stewart won a tie-breaker to give Gold the point, three sets to two, 35 games to 33.

Both the ladies and mens sections were dominated by respective sides with Rainbow winning four of the five sets in the mens and Gold producing the same in the ladies, winning four of the five sets contested.

Seamus O'Halloran and Matt Thomas won their three sets for the day, while for Gold Wendy Hewitt won her three sets including the final set of the day which gave Gold the overall win by one game.

At Dimboola, co-tenants Dimboola and Arkona contested a gripping day's play which started with a two game difference in the mixed doubles before being decided in the final set of the day.

Playing six men and five ladies, Arkona's Russell Hunter started the day well with a 9-4 victory in a singles clash against Jake Miller before Arkona prevailed in the mixed section, three sets 43 games to three sets, 41 games.

The mens section belonged to Dimboola who maintained a tight contest throughout the day winning four sets, 49 games to two sets, 30 games before Arkona hit back in the ladies section to even the ledger and ensure the contest went down to the final set of the day.

Arkona won the section four sets, 41 games to one set, 21 games with Tracey and Olivia Jorgensen claiming the final set of the ladies section, 9-3 to ensure victory with their side finishing the day with four points, nine sets, 114 games to Dimboola's one point, eight sets, 111 games.

The final game of the round was to be played on Sunday between Antwerp and Hopetoun which saw no play taking place with rain washing out the day's contest.
