The Horsham Cricket Association A Grade competition resumed on Saturday after the Christmas break with a round of one day games which saw the Blackheath-Dimboola Bulls take on the Jung Tigers on the turf at the recreation reserve.

Jung Tigers 4/242 (SJ Leith 78, A Adams 71, T McGough 2/32, L Watts 2/52) defeated Blackheath-Dimboola 9/225 (L Watts 102, S Polack 53*, O Young 42, M Knight 4/46) at Dimboola

In hot conditions the Tigers chose to bat first after winning the toss and after their allotted 45 overs they finished with 242 for the loss of 4 wickets.

Trent McGough and Lachie Watts took two wickets each for the Bulls, and Watts also took two catches including a caught and bowled. Nathan Schorback also took a catch.

For the Jung Tigers, Sam Leith (78) and Angus Adams (71) shared in a 130 run second wicket partnership which set up the daunting target for the Bulls.

A confident start was made with the bat which saw the score reach 60 before opener McGough was dismissed for 11. His opening partner, Watts, continued and was dismissed just after reaching his century, when the team total was at 149.

Sam Polack them took on the lead batting role and despite wickets falling around him, remained not out at the end of the innings with 53. Oliver Young also made a significant contribution with 42.

After their 45 overs, the Bulls had made it to 9 for 225 which was an impressive effort to fall only 17 runs short of their objective.

Despite the loss, the Bull remain just outside the top four on the A grade ladder, and remain in contention to make the finals.

Next week the A Grade Bulls return to the Dimboola Recreation Reserve to take on Homers.

The C Grade competition will resume on the 21st of January when the Blackheath-Dimboola team will meet Horsham Saints Red at Coughlan Park in Horsham.
