A comedy duo, along with a musician, will celebrate Australia Day 2017 in Dimboola as part of a documentary launch, comedy show, and ute muster.

The event is to be the launch of the Australian Horizons Foundation's "WE ARE HERE" documentary.

The Australian Horizons Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Gulf Horizons Foundation, is a charity that is focused on the economic and social well-being of our small towns.

Melbourne comedians Dave Ivkovic and Ben Horrowitz along with musician Shane Blair will make the trip out to Dimboola with a film crew to celebrate our national day.

Ivkovic said the idea of the documentary and the associated tour is to capture the essence of country communities.

"We are heading out and visiting small towns and capturing the true essence of the spirit, heart and history of what makes our small towns in our great country so unique and special," he said.

The aim of the Foundation is to support small towns on both an economic and social level.

"Mental health is first and foremost in our scope. A happy community is a vibrant and positive community," Ivkovic said.

"We all know that isolation creates dislocation and to have a sense of being valued and appreciated is priceless in anyone's lives."

Ivkovic and Blair will travel to Cairns the week before to launch the "WE ARE HERE" project before the film launch in Dimboola.

The inaugural Dimboola Ute Muster will be held at the Victoria Hotel during the afternoon, before a comedy show in the evening.

An Australia Day party will also be held during the day at the Hotel.

Locals and visitors alike are being encouraged to attend the muster with - or without - their ute.

The people and places which make our community unique will be recorded for use in the documentary, as will be the comedy show.

As Charlie Chaplin once said: "A day without laughter is a day wasted."
