With most summers sports competitions building towards their finals over the next month thoughts begin to turn towards the upcoming winter season with many players now be thinking about honing their skills for their next sport.

The Dimboola Hockey Club has arranged for coaches from the Ciriello Coaching Academy to conduct hockey skills training sessions on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of April at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre hockey pitch between 9 am and 3 pm.

Topics covered will include basic skills such as how to hold the stick correctly, move around with the stick-on ball without tapping and aspects such as correct posture and playing stance, through to more advanced topics such as penalty strokes, penalty corners and set attacking plays.

Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to enrol in these sessions and coaches are also encouraged to participate.

Players from any club or neighbouring association are welcome to take advantage of this is a rare opportunity to be tutored by top coaches without leaving the Wimmera.

The Wimmera Hockey Association's winter season will hit off on the 22nd of April for the Open, Women's, Under 16 mixed and Under 12 mixed divisions and this is an ideal opportunity to experience some training before the season starts.
