Dimboola and District Tennis Association's top four will only be decided in the final round of the season after the weekend's penultimate round of results.

Fourth place will come down to this weekend's final round after Rainbow produced a come-from-behind win over Warrack Gold which has them trailing fourth place by three and a half points.

Saturday's round produced two thrilling results with ladder leader Hopetoun suffering its first loss of the season when it lost to second-placed Antwerp by seven games.

The two close matches highlighted the round which also saw Arkona snuff out Dimboola's chance of playing finals with victory on Friday night, while Brim proved too strong for Yaapeet and Warrack Maroon ensured its finals berth when it claimed victory over Jeparit.

Playing a full complement of six men and six ladies, Antwerp set up its victory in the mixed doubles section when it dominated five of the six sets to lead 49 games to 27.

Antwerp peeled off the first four sets to clinch the point before Anthony Schache and Jonti George claimed one back for Hopetoun for a 9-4 victory.
From that point on, Hopetoun played catch up tennis, and gradually closed the margin in the both the mens and ladies sections.

The mens section came down to the final set after Hopetoun won three of the first four sets before Antwerp closed out the fifth set 9-3 to trail three sets to two, 35 games to 31.

But a 9-3 win to Schache and Marco Hallam ensured Hopetoun claimed the section four sets, 44 games to two sets, 34 games.

Like the mens section, the ladies also came down to the final set after Antwerp claimed the opening two sets before Hopetoun hit back to claim the next three sets and lead three sets to two, 38 games to 36.

A 9-6 win to Nicole McLean and Jonti George ensured Hopetoun its second point for the day to claim the section four sets, 47 games to two sets, 42 games.

The final two sets to Hopetoun saw it tie Antwerp on nine sets apiece but Antwerp claimed the day finishing seven games in front and win the day three points to two.

Rainbow ensured its finals prospect were kept alive in thrilling fashion on its home courts at Rainbow against Warrack Gold.

Entering the match four and half points behind, Rainbow closed the margin to three and a half points when it claimed a last-gasp victory by five games.

Playing four men and five ladies, things looked good for Gold after the mixed doubles section when it claimed four of the five sets and led by 12 games.

Gold worked hard to set up a lead in the ladies section when it claimed the section three sets to two and take the point 34 games to 25.

But Rainbow stormed back into the match when it dominated the mens section to win all four sets and hold its opponent to just 10 games which saw it finish the match five games in front with sets level at seven each.

The final result saw Rainbow claim the day seven sets, 85 games to seven sets, 80 games, three points to two.

Friday night saw Arkona kick off the round with a dominant display to claim all five points on offer against Dimboola.

Playing six and six, Arkona started the night in strong style when it claimed the first five sets in the mixed doubles before Dimboola's Jay Guzarem and Karen Bridgewater claimed a 9-3 win in the final set.

Arkona led five sets, 48 games to one set, 35 games before it continued its strong form in both the mens and ladies section.

The mens section saw Arkona claim the point four sets, 44 games to two sets, 31 games with Nick Pietsch, Russell Hunter, Gordon Klinge and Trevor McBain topping strong nights with three wins.

Arkona's ladies topped a strong night's tennis when it claimed five of the six sets to claim the section 52 games to 34 with Meaghan Pohlner, Elizabeth Klinge, Kaylene Pietsch and Tracey Jorgensen claiming three sets for the night.

The overall result saw Arkona win five points, 14 sets, 144 games to four sets, 100 games.

Brim dominated a clash against Yaapeet when it claimed all points on offer, 12 sets, 116 games to two sets, 66 games.

Playing four ladies and five men, a singles match-up opened the mixed doubles section that saw Brim's Jack Quick claim a 9-5 victory as Brim dominated the section to claim all five sets, 45 games to 20.

Continuing its form, Brim claimed all four sets in the ladies section in a dominant display which saw it win 36 games to 10.

The mens section was the closest of the day which saw Yaapeet win 36 games to 35, but lost the point as Brim claimed three of the five sets played.

The section came down to the final set after both sides won two sets each with Yaapeet leading by 29 games to 26 before Brim's Lachie Stewart and Cameron Blinman combined to claim a thrilling 9-7 win which closed the gap to one game, 35-36, but enough to close out the day three sets to two.

The final game of the round took place at Anzac Park when Warrack Maroon hosted Jeparit in a four points, nine sets, 104 games to one point, six sets, 73 games win to the home side.

Playing five men and five ladies, the mixed doubles opened with Warrack Maroon winning the first three sets to close out the opening point of the day winning three sets, 38 games to two sets, 27 games.

The ladies section saw a dominant display by the Maroon team which won all five sets on offer and held its opponent in a 45 games to four win.

Jeparit hit back in the mens section, winning the point in the fourth set when Bo Smith and Brett Schultz closed out a 9-2 win before winning the final set 9-5 to win the section four sets, 42 games to one set, 21 games.

Zannie Malone, Jan Greenwood and Julie Koschitzke won their three sets for the day.
