24-year-old Dimboola hammer thrower Emma Werner has been powering the throwing community in the Northern Territory.

Working with Athletics North Territory, Emma has been spreading her coaching expertise in the art of throwing shot put, discus and hammer to aspiring athletes. A part of this was spent in a community almost half way between Darwin and Alice Springs, to coach and support rural athletes.

Joshua Plante, Head Coach at Great North Coaching, said that Emma is currently preparing for the upcoming Oceania Athletics Championships, where there will be athletes from 24 countries from around the Oceania region and parts of Asia.

"Emma is an inspiring female athlete both in the cage and around the track," he said.

The Championships will be held in Suva, Fiji, from the 28th of June - 1st of July.
