Former Dimboola resident and Brass Band member Glenn Ramage was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) earlier this year.

His OAM was awarded for service to the community through music.

Glenn was a student at Dimboola Memorial High School during his youth. He had his start in music due to an advertisement in a local newspaper, in which Mr Stan Lehmann and the Dimboola Brass Band were looking for members.

Since 1970 Glenn has lived in the Kiewa Valley in north-eastern Victoria, and has devoted his life to teaching and fostering music in his community.

He was a founder of the Mt Beauty Secondary College Band, and was the Musical Director from 1987 to 1997. He later founded and directed the Mt Beauty and District Community Band (1999). Glenn also volunteered his time as a music tutor for many years.

Glenn has previously been recognised in his local community as Local Achiever of the Year - Kiewa Valley by the Alpine Shire Council in 2009.
