Hindmarsh Shire Council is inviting interested residents to attend a community conversation in relation to the proposed new Dimboola Library and Community Civic Hub.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor Deb Nelson said that Council appointed an architect following the announcement of funding.

"Following the announcement of funding through the Victorian Government's 2016 Living Libraries program, Council appointed an architect with extensive experience in the design of similar public buildings to prepare conceptual designs for the new Library.

"This is a great project for Dimboola and we are excited to invite residents of Dimboola and district to a community conversation to learn more about the project and for the community to make comment before more detailed designs are prepared," she said.

"Whilst Council was disappointed to learn that our funding application to the Federal Government was not successful, the design we have been able to achieve with the State Government funding is fantastic.

"It will provide the Dimboola community with a purpose-built library that will become Dimboola's creative, learning, community and business hub for generations to come," she said.

The community conversation will be held at the Dimboola Library, Lloyd Street, Dimboola, on Thursday 2 November 2017 from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.

Residents are invited to "drop in" to view the plans and have a chat at any stage during this time.

The need for new community infrastructure was identified in the Dimboola Community Precinct Plan.
