The final round for 2017/18 of Hindmarsh Shire Council's Community Action grants program is now open with available categories including Community Assistance, Event Sponsorship, Minor Facility Upgrades and Small Equipment. The grants were stablished in 2013 to support communities with funds to provide services, self-help and assistance with community development, social action and connectedness.

Hindmarsh Shire Mayor Ron Ismay said "Community groups should take advantage of this opportunity if they haven't applied for a grant before; this is the last funding opportunity for the 2017/18 financial year for the Community Action Grant Program. With all categories available this is the ideal time to complete or start a project".

Grants of up to $1,000 will be available to not-for-profit community groups and organisations to assist with worthwhile projects from the Community Assistance category. This category is designed to cover projects that do not fit under the other three categories of the Community Action Grant program.

Grants of up to $500 are available towards the costs of hosting an event in Hindmarsh Shire though Council may allocate sponsorship of up to $1,000 per event where events will also have a significant regional impact and provide social and economic benefits.

The Small Equipment grants up to $1,000 are available to not-for-profit community groups and organisations to assist in the cost of purchasing small equipment items. Minor Facility Upgrade grants up to $2,000 are available to not-for-profit community groups and organisations to assist in the costs of upgrading community facilities.

Mayor Ismay said "It is important that groups take note of the deadline for the final round and submit applications accordingly. Groups that received funding during the 2015/16 financial year are invited to apply again if they meet the eligibility Criteria. Please ensure that your group read the guidelines and complete all relevant paperwork required".

Round 3 of the Community Action Grants close at 5pm 23 February 2018. Applications will be considered for all of the following four categories at this time:

  • Community Assistance
  • Event Sponsorship
