As the days get warmer and longer, and as we enter breeding time for much of our wildlife, VicRoads is reminding road users to be on the lookout for kangaroos.

The number of vehicle collisions involving kangaroos peaked in October and November last year, according to VicRoads data, and that trend looks set to continue this year.

Recent rainfall means that there is no shortage of roadside vegetation for our wildlife. The run off from roads means that these areas may be greener than other areas and are therefore more attractive to animals.

Be vigilant when you’re on the roads – particularly at dawn and dusk – but be aware that wildlife may be active at any time during the day or very late at night.
