The Dimboola and District Tennis Association 2020-2021 season continued last weekend with some great encounters, which despite the scores saw some good tennis.

The weekend kicked off with Hopetoun hosting Arkona on Saturday. Their Mixed team played exceptionally well defeating Arkona 5 sets, 51 games to Arkona’s 1 set, 23 games, and their Men easily won their game, winning 6 sets, 54 games to Arkona 0 sets, 14 games.

The Hopetoun Women won their game 5 sets, 46 games to Arkona 1 set, 35 games.

The overall score was Hopetoun 5 match points, 16 sets, 151 games to Arkona 0 match points, 2 sets, 72 games.

Brim were host to Dimboola with the Mixed team winning 3 sets, 31 games over Dimboola 1 set, 20 games.

The Brim Men won 2 sets, 32 games over Dimboola 2 sets, 23 games with Dimboola’s Jason Revell and Isaac Eldridge winning the tiebreaker against Lachie Golder and Hugh Kean.

The Brim Women had a close win of 3 sets, 29 games over Dimboola 1 set, 25 games.

Brim won the day 5 match points, 8 sets, 92 games over Dimboola 0 match points, 4 sets, 68 games.

Jeparit, the host team, welcomed Antwerp to their courts. The Antwerp Mixed team won over their opposition 6 sets, 54 games with Antwerp’s Tim Jorgensen and Abbey Greig winning a tie-breaker against Jeparit’s Ben Inkster and Ebony Spokes.

Antwerp Men defeated their opponents 5 sets, 49 games to Jeparit 1 set, 29 games, and equally the Antwerp Women were stronger with a win of 4 sets, 45 games to Jeparit 2 sets, 36 games.

Antwerp finshed with 5 match points, 15 sets, 148 games to Jeparit 0 match points, 3 sets, 91 games.

Last match for the weekend saw Warrack Gold host Rainbow at Anzac Park, with their Mixed winning 5 sets, 53 games to Rainbow 1 set, 21 games. Rainbow’s Aidan Gelligen and Cooper Stasinowsky won their tie-breaker against Warrack’s Dave Nitschke and Jess Kelly.

The Warrack Men were strong against Rainbow, winning their games 6 sets, 54 games to Rainbow 0 sets, 9 games, and the Warrack Women were also strong on the day with a 6 sets, 54 games win over Rainbow 1 set, 15 games.

The final result was Warrack Gold 5 match points, 17 sets, 161 games over Rainbow 0 match points, 1 set, 45 games.

Round Three - Friday 23 October and Saturday 24 October

On Friday evening Antwerp travels to Hopetoun to take on the home team for the first time since defeating them in the 2019/20 grand final in March, and at the same time Brim will host Rainbow.

Saturday will see Dimboola travel to Anzac Park in Warracknabeal to take on the home team, and Arkona will venture to the riverside courts in Jeparit to take on the home team.
