Cricket | West Wimmera Warriors A and B Grades
Both West Wimmera Warrior cricket teams remain without a win after round four of the Horsham Cricket Association 2018/19 season was played on Saturday.

A Grade - West Wimmera Warriors v. Jung Tigers

The A grade West Wimmera Warriors are still searching for their first win in the Horsham Cricket Association after they fell 44 runs short of the Jung Tigers at Davis Park in Nhill on Saturday.

The Tigers were invited to bat first and after a couple of early wickets found themselves at three down for 27 runs, with Ash Dickinson taking two for 17 off five overs for the Warriors.

The next two partnerships yielded 55 and 99 which allowed them to finish their allocated over at four wickets for 181. Tiger batsmen Simon Mock (85) and Tyler Puls (45) were both not out at the end of this last partnership.

Josh Lees was the only other of the nine bowlers used in the innings to take a wicket and Louis Preston effected a run out to take the fourth wickets to fall.

In reply the Warriors also lost three early wickets, but a partnership of 39 between Josh Lees (9) and Brodie Cramer (33) steadied the innings, although even contributions of 19 by Michael Preston and a late knock of 22 not out by Dickinson were not enough to get them over the line.

For their next game the Warriors will travel to the Sunnyside oval in Horsham to meet Homers in their first two day game for the season, where an outright victory will keep them in touch with the top four

B Grade - West Wimmera Warriors v. Horsham Saints

A fighting knock of 37 by Trevor James dominated the B grade West Wimmera Warriors’ innings against Horsham Saints at the Dock Lake Reserve, but the only other double figure contributions to the team total of 98 were Sharath Sunil with 12 and sundries with 18.

These were the best personal performances of these two players for the season, showing some promise for upcoming games.

Earlier the Horsham Saints had posted 8 for 167 off their 40 overs with Shanaye Alexander the leading bowler with two wickets for 22 runs off five overs. Dylan Webb, Bailey Zimmermann and Trevor James all took one wicket each.

Jamie Harding took four catches behind the stumps.

This gave the Saints a comfortable win.

The team now turns its attention to their first taste of two day cricket this season, starting next weekend when they welcome Quantong to Sir Robert Menzies Park in Jeparit on Saturday afternoon.
