Are you ready to vote in the state election?
|Tomorrow (Tuesday 6th Nov) is the final day to enrol to vote or to update your details on the electoral role before the Victorian State Election.
The Close of Rolls will occur at 8.00 pm on Tuesday 6 November, and the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is encouraging voters, especially those voting for the first time, to enrol or update their details online.
“The last thing you want is to turn up to vote on election day, only to find you are enrolled for a previous address, and can’t vote for the district that you currently live in,” Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately AM said.
“It’s particularly important if you’re voting for the first time – you may have been directly enrolled by the VEC, but if you’ve moved away from home since leaving school, you need to change your details – we can’t do it for you.”
Voters can update their details via the VEC’s website at vec.vic.gov.au.
While updating their enrolment details, electors have the chance to register for a free email and SMS alert service, ‘VoterAlert’. VoterAlert offers subscribers important reminders regarding enrolment, early voting, and voting on election day.
Victorians will vote to elect the 59th Victorian Parliament on Saturday 24 November.
