The B grade Blackheath-Dimboola cricket team has put itself in a prime position to earn its third win for the season in their encounter with Lubeck-Murtoa on The Park at Dimboola, whilst the C grade team travelled to Minyip for a one day game.
B Grade v. Lubeck-Murtoa
After winning the toss the Lubeck-Murtoa batsmen chose to set a target and second wicket partnership of just under one hundred suggested that this may have been a good decision, but the Blackheath-Dimboola bowlers had different ideas.
Three wickets were taken when the score was at 105, and a further four wickets fell when the score was on 174 and 175 which contributed to the Bulls to dismissing the visitors for 181.
Opening bowlers Robert Sommers and Dwayne McDonald both took three wickets and Sam Polack, Chris Ross (above) and Elliott Braithwaite took one each.
After the last opposition batsman was dismissed, Heath Mibus and Nathan Schorback strode to the crease to face three overs before the close of play, and were able to keep their wickets intact and the day finished with two runs on the board.
The chance to climb into the top four with a win is the incentive for a good performance next week.
C Grade v. Rupanyup-Minyip
The C grade team did not enjoy much success when they travelled to Minyip to take on their eastern neighbours in their round four one day encounter.
Jason Pietsch in his first game for the season made a respectable 24 batting at number 4, but unfortunately his score was exceeded by sundries with 28, but no other batsman was able to reach double figures and the team’s innings finished at just 80 off 31 and a half overs.
In reply Minyip-Murtoa only lost one wicket on their way to surpassing this total, with Malcolm Barry taking a catch off Chris Harberger’s bowling.
Next week the team has a chance for a break as they have the bye, and their next outing will be on 24 November when they travel to Laharum.
