The completion of round six of the Dimboola and District Tennis Association has seen a few teams change positions on the ladder.
Arkona were ruthless when they welcomed Jeparit, losing only one set for the day when Ben Inkster and Daniel Keam were able to secure Jeparit’s only win against Mitchell Jorgensen and Russell Hunter 9-7.
Arkona’s ladies only lost five games for the day.
Arkona has jumped ahead of Brim to take fourth position on the ladder.
In the closest match of the day, Brim welcomed Antwerp to their courts where third and fourth met. Three tie-breakers were played with Brim winning all three. Brim won the mixed and the men’s section. They also won the most sets with 11 to Antwerp’s 7.
Antwerp claimed with ladies section by 10 games after both teams had won three sets each. Because of the amount of close games, Antwerp were able to win the point for most games won with 130 games to Brim’s 124 games.
Even though Brim won, they have dropped to fifth position.
Lachie Stewart, Lachie Golder and Molly Stewart from Brim won their three sets.
Hopetoun and Warrack Gold were the only two undefeated teams going into the round. They met each other on Saturday at Hopetoun.
They played with the reduced numbers of five men and five ladies. Hopetoun were depleted in their numbers having to borrow a man and a lady from the Warracknabeal side, and also Warrack Gold had a lady playing as a man.
Warrack were the winners of the day, winning four match points. Hopetoun were able to claim the men’s section by winning three of the five sets.
Hopetoun’s Jacob Holm and Mal McLean, and Sarah Spicer, Jan Greenwood, Chris Kellett and Liz Doyle from Warrack Gold won three sets.
Dimboola hosted Rainbow in the final match of the round.
Rainbow were winners on the day, winning all five match points on offer, however the men’s section was very close. Both teams won three sets each, but Rainbow won 44 games to Dimboola’s 40 games.
Rainbow’s Rowena Keller, Tracey Tregenza, Ashley Clugston, Sharyn Gelligen and Rylee Cocks won three sets.
Rainbow’s win has seen them move from bottom of the ladder up to sixth position.
