Hopetoun has won their third premiership in a row in the Dimboola and District Tennis Association on Saturday.

At Anzac Park, Warrack Gold and Hopetoun competed in the grand final.

Both teams were grand finalists in the previous season and the Warracknabeal side was looking to reverse the result of the previous year.

Hopetoun had other plans and were quick to display their intentions in the mixed as the reigning premiers started the day convincingly, winning five of the six sets in the opening mixed section.

Warrack’s Cam Clyne and Emma Koschitzke won their only set when they defeated Mal McLean & Remy George 9-6 but Hopetoun was too strong in the remaining five matches.

It appeared that the win in the mixed section set up the day as Hopetoun’s men were too strong for the Warrack men winning a clean sweep of matches and only gave away 10 games in the six sets.

The Warrack ladies reversed this result by winning all six sets. Two sets came down to tie-breakers, but the Warrack ladies held their nerve and claimed the wins.

Association president Tim Jorgensen and secretary Abbey Greig ran the day and congratulated all players on their season.

Both presented medallions to the winning team before presenting the District Cup to captains Jacob Holm and Jonti George.

“At the end of the day, some excellent tennis was played, after a great season of tennis,” Jorgensen said.

“Well done to Warrack Gold and Hopetoun for making the grand final and congratulations to Hopetoun on winning the District Cup for the third successive season.”
