Six Dimboola organisations have received funding through two separate grant programs by Horsham Sports and Community Club and the Hindmarsh Shire Council.

Hindmarsh Shire Council – Community Action Grants

Dimboola RSL has received $1945 through Hindmarsh Shire’s Community Action Grants program to assist with the design, supply and installation of an interpretative display and landscaping at the Avenue of Honour at the front of Dimboola Memorial Secondary College.

The interpretative display will provide an overview of the interesting history of how the Dimboola community chose to honour those who didn’t return from the First World War, in the form of a Higher Elementary School. The school opened in 1924, a decade after the beginning of the war, and has been educating the community’s young people for almost a century since.

Dimboola Golf Club is another recipient of a Council grant, receiving $500 to assist with the running of the 2019 Victorian Veterans Golf Sand-green Championships which is anticipated to attract up to 70 veteran golfers during August.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor Ron Ismay congratulated the recipients of this funding.
“It is fantastic that Council is able to support worthwhile community organisations with funding to assist in the purchase of materials and help them to achieve their goals.

“With the end of the 2018/2019 year upon us, I encourage other community organisations to submit applications for funding through the Community Action Grants in 2019/2020.”

Glenn Carroll, Manager of the HSCC, said that this brings the grand total of cash sponsorships presented by the Club to just over $2 million since 1992.
