Rainbow will once again come alive on August 9 to 11 for the third Rainbow Desert Enduro.

Drivers and their crews, along with many spectators, will descend on the town for the weekend’s event including a Friday night street party and two days of racing on Saturday and Sunday.

The Rainbow Desert Enduro takes place at the Bow Hill GrainCorp site, less than one kilometre west of the township.

Just $15 will give racegoers entry on both days at the site with spectator hill giving the onlookers excellent viewing as the cars come across the start/finish line between each lap.

The 75 kilometre track is shaping up nicely for drivers with the recent rain helping organisers provide the best track surface possible.

The race provides a wide range of track surfaces for the drivers as they make their way through the Big Desert and country roads, and has become known as one of the most challenging Enduro off-road racing tracks in Australia.

The Rainbow Desert Enduro is the third and final round of the BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship (AORC), third round of the CAMS Victorian Off Road Championship, round eight of the Victorian Off Road Club Shield and will also be the fifth round of the VORRA Club Championship.

Friday night will see Rainbow’s main street come alive as the scrutineering of cars will close the street to general traffic. This is the time for all people to get a closer look at the cars before they are covered in mud during the race.

The drivers are also present and are happy to chat to all as the cars line the street. The variety of cars is a spectacular site as they range in size from single seater cars to the large trophy trucks.

A wide variety of Rainbow’s community groups will be providing a large choice of catering options across the three days as well as many of the local businesses who will have their doors open across the weekend.

The Rainbow Desert Enduro committee is looking for people to help out across the weekend, especially in recovery on the track. If anyone would like to help out in any way, get in touch with VORRA President Tony Carabott on 0422 887 333.

Head along to Rainbow on August 9 to 11 to take in the action of the Rainbow Desert Enduro.
