|Rowers and other users will have a safer way to launch their boats and canoes after work is completed on the floating launch pontoon at the Dimboola Rowing Club.
Last week the highly anticipated floating pontoon arrived, and the supplier Ebaz Marine Works and Jetties have been assembling the sections before launching onto the river.
Dimboola Rowing Club President Mick Salter said “our rowing teams are very excited to see the pontoon arrive and assembly taking place.“
“The pontoon will enable the rowers to launch the rowing boats safely and minimise the risk to their health and safety,” he said.
“This will be a great asset for the future of the Dimboola Regatta that is held in November each year.”
The pontoon was made possible with the support of the Wimmera Catchment Authority, Hindmarsh Shire Council, and the Dimboola Rowing Club.
The public will have access to the pontoons for other recreational activities such as canoeing and swimming.
“The public will make good use of the pontoon as well as the rowers,” Mr Salter said.
Work on the pontoon is expected to be completed by this Saturday.
