Total Fire Bans have been declared for the Mallee, Northern Country, East Gippsland, North East, North Central, and West and South Gippsland for tomorrow, Saturday 4 January 2020.

Although the Wimmera is not included in this, the fire danger will still be Very High and residents are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings.

Forest Fire Management Victoria issued a notice late this morning confirming that the fires in the Big Desert north of Yanac remain contained and that there is currently no threat to communities.

The state government has declared a State pf Disaster for a large part of eastern Victoria in response to the large fires in that area, and a significant blaze is currently affecting communities near the Budj Bim National Park north east of Portland in the state’s south west.

Other fires in the western Victoria remain active, but contained, in the southern Grampians, near Dartmoor and near Dergholm.
