Three Jeparit CFA appliances responded to a grass fire in the town yesterday evening.
Crews were paged to the fire in John Street just before 6pm and quickly brought the small grass fire under control.
Jeparit Fire Brigade said last night that the fire was started by a push mower being used to cut long, dry grass.
They have issued a reminder that it is still very dry despite the recent rain.
They also encourage people to have appropriate fire suppression equipment on-hand when using outdoor appliances, including mowers, such as a minimum 9 litre Air Water Fire Extinguisher or a long hose attached to a tap ready to go – just in case.
