With one round to go in the Dimboola and District Tennis Association season, Brim is on top of the ladder, Hopetoun and Rainbow are also assured of a spot in the finals, and while Antwerp is in the box seat to remain in fourth place, if everything were to fall into place, Warrack could still overtake them.
Round thirteen got underway on Friday night which saw Arkona host Dimboola. Dimboola mixed played exceptionally well, defeating Arkona with 6 sets, 54 games, to Arkona 0 sets, 27 games.
This play continued, with Dimboola men winning 5 sets, 50 games to Arkona 1 set, 31 games. The ladies, on the other hand, battled it out, with Arkona scraping home the win. 4 sets, 45 games to Dimboola 2 sets, 41 games. The overall score was Dimboola 4 match points, 13 sets, 145 games to Arkona 1 match point, 5 sets, 103 games.
On Saturday, Jeparit was to host Hopetoun. The mixed showed competitive play throughout with the away team bringing home the win, 4 sets, 36 games to Jeparit 0 sets, 7 games.
There was no stopping the Hopetoun men as they dominated the ball, winning 4 sets, 36 games to Jeparit 0 sets, 7 games. On the other hand, the Jeparit women worked hard, however Hopetoun wanted it more.
Hopetoun women winning, 3 sets, 30 games to Jeparit 1 set 21 games. The overall score was Hopetoun 5 match points, 11 sets, 102 games to Jeparit 0 match points, 1 set, 35 games.
Next, Warrack was to host Antwerp. The day kicked off with some competitive and close games. With a three game difference, Warrack mixed won 2 sets, 26 games to Antwerp 2 sets, 23 games.
Fortunately, Antwerp men were stronger winning 3 sets, 35 games to Warrack 1 set, 20 games. Just like the mixed, it was close amongst the ladies with 1 game difference. Warrack women winning, 2 sets, 23 games to Antwerp 2 sets, 22 games.
The overall score was Antwerp 3 match points, 7 sets, 80 games to Warrack 2 match points, 5 sets, 69 games.
The final match for the weekend saw Brim host Rainbow. Brim came out swinging, winning their mixed 4 sets, 42 games to Rainbow1 set 21 games. Brim men played sensational winning 5 sets, 45 games to Rainbow 0 sets 7 games.
Brim women continued this winning streak with 4 sets, 44 games to Rainbows women 1 set, 27 games. The overall score was Brim 5 match points, 13 sets, 131 games to Rainbow 0 match points, 2 sets, 55 games.
Brim can secure top spot in the final round with four match points against Antwerp. Rainbow need to win their match against Warrack and outscore Hopetoun by at least one match point to secure second.
