With warm weather forecast and hundreds of keen anglers already entered, all is ready for a big Jeparit Easter Fishing Competition tomorrow.

With online entries and the team of volunteers taking entries in person this afternoon at the Angler’s Club headquarters at the Jeparit Golf Club, nearly four hundred entries have already been accepted for the fishing competition that runs from 7.30 am to 3.00 pm on Easter Saturday.

The ten heaviest eligible fish caught by entrants in both the Senior and Junior divisions will share in the prizes, as will the two heaviest carp in each division. There is also a Mystery Weight prize.

The senior who lands the heaviest eligible fish will receive a $2,000 cheque, and the leading junior angler will earn $500, plus a sleeping bag and swag.

All prize winners will be announced, and prizes will be presented on the lawn in front of the clubrooms from around 3.30 pm.

The Jeparit Fire Brigade collected donations for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal on Friday, travelling around the town, visiting the caravan park, campers along the river, and out at Four Mile Beach at Lake Hindmarsh.

Along with the contents of a collection tin at the supermarket, and the generosity of both locals and visitors for the fishing, have raised $1,355.

It is not too late to get into the running for the prizes, as entries will still be accepted on the day, at the clubrooms at the Jeparit Golf Club
