Football, netball, and hockey finals continue this weekend, with several local teams looking to progress closer to the premiership.
Saturday will decide the first teams to qualify for the Wimmera Football Netball League grand finals across the four football divisions and seven netball grades, but the most local interest will be on Sunday at Beulah, where the Dimboola senior footballers will meet Horsham Saints to play for a place in the Preliminary final.
On the same day, the Dimboola 17 & Under netballers will play Warrack Eagles, also in the first semi-final.
The Horsham District Football Netball League action will centre on Kaniva on Saturday for their preliminary finals, where the Jeparit-Rainbow Storm senior footballers will play Noradjuha-Quantong for a place in the grand final, and the Pimpinio 15 & Under netballers will play Edenhope-Apsley.
In the Wimmera Hockey Association preliminary finals at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre on Saturday, the Warracknabeal Hoops will play the Kaniva Cobras for the right to meet the Yanac Tigers in the Open division grand final, and Warracknabeal will play Yanac in the Women’s competition for the opportunity to face Kaniva in the grand final. This season, with Dimboola unable to field any competition teams, they have formed an informal alliance with Warracknabeal, and both of these teams will feature several local players.
