Despite the conditions, The Dimboola and District Tennis Association returned to the courts on Friday with some competitive play.
Dimboola hosted Antwerp, and some tough games were played in the mix, with Lenny Eldridge and Melissa Howard breaking their set against Ashley Avery and Noah Myerscough.
Antwerp were the stronger team on the day, with the Mixed winning 3 sets, 30 games, to Dimboola 1 set, 21 games.
There were some close games in the men, but Antwerp proved too strong, winning 2 sets, 32 games to Dimboola 2 sets, 27 games.
The Antwerp Women showed their talent, winning 3 sets, 30 games, to Dimboola 1 set, 22 games.
The overall score was Antwerp 5 match points, 8 sets, 92 games to Dimboola 0 match points, 4 sets, 70 games.
Rainbow hosted Jeparit. The Rainbow Mixed were too strong and won their 5 sets, 45 games to Jeparit 2 sets, 31 games. Jeparit’s Jason Hutson played some great games, but unfortunately, the Rainbow Men were too strong, winning 4 sets, 45 games to 2 sets, 31 games.
The Rainbow Ladies played exceptionally well, defeating Jeparit 4 sets, 36 games to 0 sets, 7 games.
The final score was Rainbow 5 match points, 13 sets, 126 games to Jeparit 0 match points, 2 sets, 54 games.
Arkona hosted Warrack. There were some close games in the mix with Warrack being the dominant side.
The Warrack Mixed won 3 sets, 32 games to Arkona 1 sets, 25 games, and the Arkona Men proved their strength as they won by 4 sets, 36 games to the Warrack’s, 0 sets, 22 games.
The Warrack Women did the same, winning 4 sets, 36 games, to Arkona 0 sets, 18 games. The overall score was Warrack 4 match points, 7 sets, 90 games to Arkona 1 match point, 5 sets, 79 games.
On Saturday, Hopetoun hosted Brim. Stepping out onto the court to play mixed, there was no hiding that Hopetoun thrive in windy conditions as they defeated Brim 5 sets, 50 games to 1 set, 24 games.
That winning streak continued, with Hopetoun Men winning 6 sets, 54 games to Brim 0 sets, 25 games.
The Hopetoun Women were too strong, winning their match 5 sets, 47 games to Brim 1 set, 31 games. The overall score was Hopetoun 5 match points, 16 sets, 151 games to Brim, 0 match points, 2 sets, 80 games.
