Competitive rowing will return to the Wimmera River this weekend with the 133rd Dimboola Regatta and 11th Head of the Wimmera.

After the 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled due to the pandemic and last year’s not being held due to dangerously high river levels, this will be the first event since 2019.

When entries closed on Monday, eighteen Victorian clubs and one from New South Wales had registered crews, with over two hundred athletes to take to the water for a program of 184 Grade and Masters events on Saturday.

The Dimboola Rowing Club has eleven entries in nine events, and the Horsham City Rowing Club has eight entries in four events.

On Sunday, the Head of the River time trial will see one hundred and eight athletes forming eighteen crews to tackle the 6,200 metre course. Dimboola has entered a Female C Grade Coxed Quad Scull crew.

The next Dimboola market will also be held on Saturday morning between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Tower Park on Lloyd Street.
