Hindmarsh Shire Council’s Annual Statutory Meeting was held on Wednesday at the Council Chambers in Nhill, where the new-look Council gathered for the first time.

During the meeting, Council welcomed the Councillors for the 2024-2028 term, including past Councillor Cr Ron Ismay and five new Councillors, Cr Chan Uoy, Cr Rosie Barker, Cr James Barry, Cr Tony Clark, and Cr Roger Aitken.

Each Councillor undertook an Oath or Affirmation of Office administered by the Chief Executive Officer, Monica Revell, followed by the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Cr Ron Ismay was elected Mayor for the coming 12 months with Cr Chan Uoy being elected as Deputy Mayor for the same period.
“Thank you to those around the table who supported this decision and I pay tribute to the other two Councillors who were nominated and I believe they will be quite capable taking on this role in the future. I look forward to working with everyone. I believe we need to change, and our CEO as Cr Barker said, is certainly the one to do so. Thank you.”
- Mayor, Cr Ismay
Council also appointed delegates to Council advisory committees, community asset committees, and external organisations. A full list is available in the Council Meeting minutes, published on the Council’s website.
